Differences between Respiration and Breathing
Respiration and Breathing
Respiration and breathing are compulsory for living organisms . Between two there is significant difference.
Respiration may be a biochemical process of releasing energy .which is used by our body cell to perform various activities in our everyday life like running, walking , sitting and other life process. It is a essential process for maintaining the correct functioning of the body organ for our live.
Breathing may be a physical process of Exhaling and Inhaling carbon dioxide from alveoli of lungs.Alveoli is sac like structure from which gases exchange between cells and environment , carbon dioxide out and oxygen in from environment.
Respiratory organs like nose and lungs involves during this mechanism of breathing .

Inhalation
The air we inhale from environment within the lungs gaseous exchange from sac like structure alveoli and oxygen distributed by blood to the cell, where it helps in the breaking down of glucose and release energy.cell used generated energy to carried out respective functions.
Exhalation
The oxygen we take through nose within the lungs , with the help of oxygen breaking down of glucose and release energy. After this , carbon dioxide formed and released and this process continue further.Important points of Respiration and breathing.
- Breathing is that the biological and voluntary action inhalation of oxygen and exhalation of carbon dioxide while respiration is the process of biochemical each cell performed this function by using oxygen and glucose to supply energy with in the kind of ATP. other activities in the cells of body.
- Breathing is the voluntary biophysical process and completes in two Stages.
- Respiration, is an involuntary biochemical process breathing there is no energy production and therefore only target is to accumulate more and more oxygen and transfer it to the cells, though in respiration In the form of ATP energy is released.
- Breathing occurs outside the cells, and so it is an extracellular process, but respiration is an intracellular process because it takes place inside the cells.
- During respiration many catalyst and enzymes play a crucial role, but there is no needed enzymes during breathing.
- Through respiratory organs breathing takes place just like the nose, lungs, etc., while especially in organelles like mitochondria respiration takes place it occurs in each cell of the body of an organism.
Breathing | Respiration |

The process of inhalation and exhalation is thought as breathing . while Inhaling of oxygen and Exhaling of carbon dioxide. | Respiration is the process of breaking down of glucose to produce energy which is employed by cells to hold out the cellular function. |
In the lungs Breathing takesplace. | In cells Respiration takes place. |
Breathing is a voluntary physical process. | Respiration is an involuntary natural process. |
Energy is do not produced during the method of breathing. | In the form of ATP energy is released. |
